Saxony, Kingdom. A Life Saving Medal, Type Viii, C.1915 Newly Listed South African Engineering Corps(Medaillen fur Lebensrettung). Instituted 18 May 1831. Type VIII. A circular medal constructed of silver, the obverse bears the right facing portrait of King Friedrich August circumscribed with FRIEDRICH AUGUST KNIG VON SAXONY (FRIEDRICH AUGUST KING OF SAXONY), the reverse is inscribed with FUR LEBENS RETTUNG (FOR LIFESAVING), encompassed by an oak leaf wreath, measuring 35. 53 mm (w) x 40. 55 mm (h), with suspension ring, very fine.
