Rather than simply pointing the blowoff tubing away from the conical, the U Barb bends outward and over the side of your conical to point tubing straight down. This gives you the same advantage of a stainless steel blowoff cane, but is much easier to clean and sanitize. The 5 8" OD barb is perfect for forming a tight seal with 1 2" ID silicone tubing.
