Austria-Hungary, Empire. A Rare Bergführer Officer’s Field Cap, With Insignia Auction measuring 90 mm (w) x(Bergfhrer Feldmtze fr Offizier mit Insignien). A rare Austro Hungarian Bergfhrer Officers field cap, constructed of field grey wool twill. It is fully surrounded by fold down side panels, gently scalloped at the front, affording optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place with two gilded bronze buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left
